Think of these Halloween treats for seniors as actually easy Halloween crafts – that you can eat! Great for parties, giveaways, desserts, at place settings, and more. Make them as simple or fancy as you’d like.
Our Halloween Treats for Seniors
We’ll start with a couple really easy Halloween treats for seniors. It would also be really whimsical to have several sticks all together in a glass jar or vase that is filled with candies on the bottom.
Or put just one at place settings – perhaps with a name tag (i.e. ghost or pumpkin shaped). Maybe tie a ribbon around the wooden skewer and attach it to your flatware. Or tie one with a black or orange ribbon around a specialty napkin, as a napkin ring.
This marshmallow pack is the one which comes in a pack of 3 where each of the packs weighs 10 oz. If you want to get the marshmallows which are soft and can be easily eaten, this pack is the ideal one.
There is an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars for this on Amazon.com. Users have suggested that these could be used for making small, flavored treats as per your requirements. Being an Amazon’s choice product, it has got our approval as well.
Chocolate Strawberry Ghosts
Fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate are really easy Halloween treats for seniors. For the ghosts, after the dipped chocolate hardens, you can actually paint on faces with a damp, fine-tip paint brush dipped in chocolate frosting. Or get black icing in a tube. They are displayed on kabob skewers (you can get either tall or shorter). We suggest getting a creamy caramel sauce for maximum flavor.
The chocolate caramel sauce by Ghirardelli is one of the best options available at Amazon which can be used for making the small chocolate strawberry ghosts. It is also formulated to be used in the different types of drinks including espressos. If you are making any kind of ice-cream or a custard, this topping will add a unique creamy taste making it even more delicious.
One bottle is of 90.4 Oz while this is a package of 3 bottles which means you get a total of 271 Oz of creamy caramel. In our opinion, you are going to absolutely love the taste of this sauce which is why it is perfect for your strawberry project as well.
Chocolate Strawberry Pumpkin
For this project, you can even make the grooved sections in the pumpkin shell if you’d like. Just add a drop of food coloring to white chocolate to make orange.
Hold the strawberry with a fork and gently use a spoon or clean finger to spread the chocolate downward. Then paint on the face with brown or black frosting, using a damp, fine-tipped brush. Pumpkins are one of the themes that lends itself well to Halloween treats for seniors.
Orange Ghoul with Candy-Filled Pumpkin
Here is another orange-dipped strawberry – this time a ghoul with a simple ghost-like face, also painted on in frosting.
A Halloween toothpick was stuck on the top for easy eating. It sets upon a small black jar cap as a stand.
You could also just make a ring stand out of black cardboard or paper. Then that is set upon a mini pumpkin filled with Halloween candies.
It’s fun to make these as a group activity, then use them for parties, or at place settings.
Four different kinds of sauces are included in this one bundle. These include the Sweet Chili, Mandarin Teriyaki, Orange Sauce, and Kung Pao Sauce. The complete bundle includes all sauces from a sweet flavoring to a fiercely spicy one. With different guests coming over, these sauces could be a great item to present for all types of snack items.
The bundle comes with 20 Oz bottles (a total of 4 bottles) branded under the name of Panda Express. These sauces have been popular among burgers as well and you can flavor your meat accordingly. Users who bought these sauces claimed that they found these sauces as “ Great sauces just as you experienced at the Restaurant”.
Next, we have another popular theme – the owl.
Chocolate Strawberry Owl
When making Halloween treats for seniors, keep in mind your participants and if they may need extra help for small items (such as the coconut pieces here), or if you need to modify the project.
For this one, you will need small pieces of colored paper in black (eyes), orange (feet), and perhaps white. I also used googly eyes from the craft store. The bird is standing in a mini baking cup.
I first sliced off the bottom of the strawberry so it would stand well. The owl here is dipped the same way as with the others. Instead of attaching pieces of coconut, you could make simple wing/feather shapes out of white paper. The beak is a slivered almond.
After having set the chocolate-dipped strawberries in the fridge, add on the other features with frosting “glue.” The feet are orange half circles with wedges cut out to make claws. The black paper eyes are shaped almost like sunglasses or upside-down bells, attached; and then the googly eyes “glued” on over that. Or just use white paper circles instead of googly eyes.
Chocolate Pretzel Wands
How about adding a little magic to your Halloween treats for seniors? Try another style of dipping chocolate and make pretzel “wands.” They also look great with a cluster of them in a jar or mug. Especially if tied with Halloween ribbon.
I used large, thick pretzels, dark chocolate, and orange sprinkles (but you could use white chocolate with a little orange food coloring, along with black candies sprinkles).
It’s super-simple to create a ghost mug. It’s made by painting on glass with special acrylic glass paints. The paints come in all kinds, and with some you don’t need to bake the project in the oven to set the paint.
Use a nice white paper party cup, using black markers to make the face instead. Then the cups can be thrown away later. I also think these mugs or cups look best with a ribbon and bow, or raffia, tied around them too.
There are different types of pretzels that you can get from Amazon.com but if you are talking about the Best Seller, this is the one that you should be getting. These are some amazing and crunchy pretzels which offer the flavor of traditional pretzels. As a result of this, it allows you a quick snack and also becomes the perfect item for making any types of treats.
Users who bought it were satisfied mainly because it is a healthy and safe to consume item. The Pretzels are non-GMO verified. The company claims that the pretzels have been made in a facility where peanuts aren’t processed so you are sure of getting the right item. The complete package includes 4 bags with each one of them weighing 12 ounces.
Have you ever worked with marzipan? It’s like making treats with clay! You may be familiar with the fruit shapes, but you could make just about anything. Including a black cat (or orange pumpkin). It’s also widely used in detail for gingerbread houses.
You can make marzipan from scratch as an interesting food project. (See our marzipan recipe page). Or easier yet, buy it in a can if you want this to be strictly a craft type project.
The simplest way to make these black cats is to buy already-colored black marzipan in a tub, online. Or for orange pumpkins, buy orange.
Making s’mores, including over an old-fashioned fire, is popular in fall. Even easier, though, make them in the microwave.
And with our Halloween treats for seniors, we take them a step further and do them gourmet style.
This rendition uses orange food coloring swirled through the melted marshmallow, and colorful sprinkles. Topped with a black candy on a toothpick.
